Muluk acrylic on shaped wood panel 37" x 37" $720 Named for 7th the day of the Mayan calendar, Muluk is known as the day of water. Associated with purification and nourishment, the Maya offered regular sacrifices to Chac, the rain god. Clear water is contrasted with “black water,” which denotes the sacrificial well, believed to be the dark passage to Xibalbá. Muluk was featured in my 2007 solo exhibition Tzolkin and 3-person show Abstractions. Muluk has also been included in a 3 month, cultural exhibition at Kaskaskia College.
